Spanish Blackjack Introduction

Spanish blackjack is an advanced version of blackjack. They have the same basic rules, though Spanish blackjack tends to have more betting options so it increases the fun because it’s more challenging.

Both the blackjack game uses 6-8 decks of poker cards without the joker. Though Spanish blackjack excludes the 10s as well. Other face cards are still used in the game.

However, since there are 4 10s in each deck, there will be 32 10s pulled out of the whole deck if we use 8 decks of poker cards to play the game. So you see there’s a huge advantage shift in the house’s favor. Though to balance it, there are some special rules to increase the player’s advantage as well.

Spanish Blackjack Special Rules

♦ If both the house and the player hit 21 points, the player wins.

♦ If both the house and the player hit blackjack, the player wins.

♦ Player may decide to double down no matter what points the player gets for his first two cards.

♦ Player gets to double down after they have split the pair they got.

♦ Player gets to surrender after he has double downed, and he gets to receive half of his betting amount.

♦ Dealer is requested to have one more card if the points were equal to or less than 17.

♦ No extra prize will be given once the player has placed double-down bets.

♦ Draw: The points are the same between the player and the house, return the betting amount.

♦ Busted: The points of the player goes beyond 21. The house takes away the bet since the player lost.

Little Tips: Player actions for Spanish Blackjack

♦Hit: The dealer asks if the player would want more cards. The players may make their decision based on the points they’ve got. According to the rules, if the player hit the table two times with their finger, means they want more cards. If the player waves their hand above their cards, means they don’t want more cards.

♦Stand: When the player decides not to ask for more cards or when the house’s hand has gone beyond 17,

♦Split: When the player got a pair to start with their hand, they may split it into two hands, but the player will have to put in the same betting amount initially he has bet already. Then it would be considered as two separate hands to compete with the house’s hand. Also with split hands, if the player hits blackjack combinations, it will only consider as normal 21 and the house will not pay the 1.5-time betting amount to the player.

♦Double: Double means betting double on the target as the other poker games. When the starting points of the player's hand are 8, 9, 10, or 11, the player may choose to place one time the original betting amount to this bet. If the player wins, the house will pay for the doubled amount. Also, some of the sites and casinos widen the range for double to any point combination for the players to bet with.

♦Surrender: Under all circumstances, should the player feel like there’s no chance to win, he or she may decide to surrender and give half of the betting amount to the house. Though in Spanish blackjack, the only condition the player can’t surrender is when the house possesses and Ace faced up.

♦Insurance: The player gets to buy insurance when there’s an Ace shown face up on the house’s hand. The player gets to buy the insurance using half of his betting amount. If the house hits blackjack indeed, then the player will win the prize at odds of 1 to 2. If the house didn’t hit blackjack, then the insurance money was lost to the house.

That’s all. I hope you all had your eyes opened after reading through the introduction to normal blackjack and Spanish blackjack.

It’s surprising to see how the game has turned out to be after the modification. If you and your friends get tired of playing with regular blackjack, I strongly advise you to try out the Spanish blackjack. Thank you all for today and I wish you all the best.
