6 Things We Learnt As South Africa Cricket Squad Beat India Cricket Squad In 3rd T20I 2022

De Kock Is Back In The Series At T20I 2022

After falling early in the first T20I 2022, Quinton de Kock has returned to his A game with a bang. He has registered two consecutive half centuries, scoring 69 unbeaten in the losing cause in the second T20I and 68 last night.

The wicket-keeper smacked four sixes and five fours before Shreyas Iyer ran him out.

He had a simple plan for a team that had nothing to lose in the final contest of the series: Go out and express yourself from the get-go and make the most out of the small boundaries.

A few sides of the Indore ground had 55m to 60m boundaries and the Proteas made hay of the opportunity.

Temba Bavuma’s Horrible Run Continues

Temba Bavuma has been under all sorts of criticism for his dry run with the bat. The South Africa cricket squad captain has been getting stuck for his ODI-like strike rate, but now his runs have dried up in the India series as well, inviting the calls for his removal as the Protea leader.

The right-handed opener registered two ducks in the first two games and only 3 of 8 in the last contest against the India cricket squad.

After being cautious against Deepak Chahar, who got him twice in the series, it was time for Umesh Yadav to savor his scalp.

Temba Bavuma’s Horrible Run Continues

Bavuma has an average of 23 at a 116 strike rate which doesn’t help his cause either.

However, the skipper has been backed by former Proteas captain and one of the best to play the game, AB de Villiers, to go big in the coming World Cup in Australia.

De Villiers feels that the 32-year-old will get to his absolute best in the mega event. Fans have called for the inclusion of Reeza Hendricks though, who has been warming the bench despite having phenomenal numbers in the last few outings.

After wrapping up the ODI series in the India cricket squad, Bavuma will not have a chance to show everyone what he can deliver in the shortest format of the game.

The Proteas will have two warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh, respectively, before they play their opening T20 World Cup on October 24.

Ashwin Keeps It Tight For India Cricket Squad

In a game where every Indian bowler was being taken to the cleaners by the SA top order, Ravichandran Ashwin made a relative difference with his bowling.

The spinner bowled at tight channels and gave away only 35 runs, which is decent with the bowling standards at the Indore wicket considering the fast outfield, short boundaries, and absolute belter of the pitch.

He had the best economy (8.75) among every Indian bowler. His spin partner, Axar Patel conceded 13 runs in the only over he bowled.

Muhammad Siraj, who was playing in place of Arshdeep Singh, conceded 44. Harshal Patel went for 44, Umesh Yadav for 1/34 in three overs, and Chahar for 1/48.

Rossouw Wreaks Havoc In Indore

Rilee Rossouw couldn’t open his account in both T20I 2022 games against the India cricket squad but registered his maiden T20I century in the final contest.

His 100* off only 48 balls propelled the visitors to 227/3. This was his highest score in the format, followed by his 96* against England this year.

This was also the fifth fastest hundred in T20Is by a South African, earning the 32-year-old a Player Of The Match award.

The left-handed batsman is making his comeback to the international side after a gap of a few years. He was called in by the Proteas management to strengthen the top order for the next World Cup.

Karthik Secures A Spot In India Cricket Squad In The Long Run

It has been a headache for Rohit Sharma to play Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant both at the same time, but DK has been making a case for himself far stronger.

Karthik Secures A Spot In India Cricket Squad In The Long Run

Pant had a decent outing last night as well until the management promoted Karthik up the order and sent him in Suryakumar Yadav’s place at number 4.

The 37-year-old was India cricket squad’s top scorer with 46 off 21. He struck four-fours and as many sixes to be the sole resistance for the visitors.

This knock may have helped the Indian management decide on who they will go in the World Cup, especially in must-win games where the team will need someone to go big in death overs.

Karthik has done it in the Indian Premier League and replicated those antics in the international arena as well ever since his comeback. Hence, he will be preferred over Pant.

Chahar Looks Good On Return

In Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s absence, the India cricket squad needed someone to swing the ball miles and that’s where Chahar did not disappoint. He has given the side early breakthroughs and also batted well down the order when needed.

If we keep the runs he has conceded away from the discussion for a while, he has created a healthy balance in the team to solidify his case as a fifth bowler who can also hammer boundaries with the bat.

Chahar scored a brilliant cameo of 31 (17) where he spanked three sixes and two fours before Dwayne Pretorious got the better of him.

Expecting the Chennai Super Kings bowler or other pacers to go for lesser runs in a ground where boundaries are far smaller as compared to other international grounds would be criminal of the cricket pundits.

India cricket squad had been eyeing their options for numbers 6 and 7, and he may be their answer to it in absence of Ravi Jadeja.
