Vivo Pro Kabaddi League has amassed a huge popularity over the years and grasped the attention of millions of fans not only in India but worldwide. The League features the superstars of Kabaddi sports from all over the world who showcase their range of skills on the court. The 11th season of the PKL is just around the corner and the PKL Auction 2024 took place on the PKL season 11 auction date, 15th and 16th of August in Mumbai.

The Pro Kabaddi League 2024 Auction was nothing short of entertainment where all the twelve franchises locked horns to establish a proper and strong team for the competition. There were huge surprises in player buying and big names were’nt picked up by any teams.
Record-Breaking Bids at PKL Auction 2024
The most exciting part of the auction was the bidding wars between teams. Several players fetched record amounts of money, breaking previous auction records. Here are some of the top buys from the auction:
- Sachin Tanwar: Sachin was the PKL highest paid player in the 2024 auction. He was bought by Tamil Thalaivas for INR 2.15 crore. Sachin is a top raider, and the Thalaivas are hoping his skills will bring them victory in the upcoming season.
- Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh: This Iranian all-rounder was sold for INR 2.07 cre to the Haryana Steelers. Chiyaneh is known for his strong defense and all-round capabilities.
- Pawan Sehrawat: One of the biggest names in kabaddi, Pawan Sehrawat, was retained by the Telugu Titans for INR 1.725 crore. This was a "Final Bid Match" (FBM), meaning the Titans had the option to keep him by matching the highest bid.
- Guman Singh: Gujarat Giants bought Guman Singh for INR 1.97 crore. He is another raider who has performed well in past seasons and is expected to shine.
- Bharat Hooda: The U.P. Yoddhas paid INR 1.30 crore to secure Bharat Hooda. As an all-rounder, Bharat’s versatility makes him a valuable addition to the team.
- Ajinkya Pawar: Ajinkya was another major buy, with Bengaluru Bulls purchasing him for INR 1.107 crore. He is a strong raider and will add a lot of firepower to the Bulls’ attack.ro
Other Important Buys in Auction
Several other players also received significant attention and were among the PKL highest paid players:
- Maninder Singh: Bengal Warriors retained their star raider for INR 1.15 crore using the Final Bid Match option.
- Sunil Kumar: This defender was sold to U Mumba for INR 1.015 crore.
- Pardeep Narwal: One of the most famous raiders in PKL history, Pardeep Narwal, was bought by Bengaluru Bulls for INR 70 lakh. He will be returning to the team where he started his career.
Bidding Wars in PKL Auction 2024
The auction was full of intense bidding wars as teams fought to get their hands on top players. One of the most exciting bidding battles was for Ajinkya Pawar, who eventually went to Bengaluru Bulls for INR 1.11 crore. Another bidding war occurred over Sunil Kumar, a defender, who was signed by U Mumba for INR 1.015 crore after a tense contest.

While the top stars grabbed the most attention, several players from lower categories also found good deals. Players from Category C and D were often signed for INR 13 lakh to INR 20 lakh. While many players received high bids, some well-known names went unsold, which came as a surprise to fans. For example, many young popular players like Monu Goyat, Vishal Bhardwaj, and, Rohit Gulia, and others were not able to pick up a bid in the auction.
