We will be making a thorough introduction focusing on the rules and skills of Texas Hold’em in this article. If you wish to improve your game, then don’t miss out.

Basic Introduction Of Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em, is a game that can have players' amounts vary from 2 to 10. It’s not only a popular game on the internet but also one of the serious International competition games as well. It originated in the States, but Asians nowadays are crazy about this game as well. Despite that there may be more people playing baccarat or Blackjack, the stakes in this game may be as high as the two games we mentioned.

Nonetheless, the key factor of this game is the player’s position in the game. According to the game rules, players take actions in turns every round of the game, and the sequel won’t change, the one that’s changing is the button’s position. Therefore the positions of the player weigh as much importance as the strength of the player’s hand.

The way of telling who wins the game is by doing the comparison of the two players' hands in the game. Each player was dealt two cards for their hand, and the dealer deals five extra cards which we called the board or the community cards. Players must select five cards out of the 7 cards containing their hand and the boarding card to make the best combination and compare it with others. There are 4 bet placing opportunities in between, and players get to select which actions they wish to take by then. The bets on each street will all be collected into the pot by the dealer and the one who wins at the very end gets the pot’s money.

The Procedure Of Texas Hold’em

The Procedure Of Texas Hold’em

Process 1: Pick the button and place the blinds

There are names for each position in the game. Therefore before the game, the players need to draw a card from a complete poker deck and compare it with each other. The one that has the highest point is the button. The player on the left of the button is called the small blind and he has to place the bet of one blind. The player on the left of the small blind is called the big blind and he has to place two blinds. For instance, if we are playing in a table of 100/200, then the small blind has to bet 100 and the big blind has to bet 200 at the beginning of the game. After the round is over, the button moves one person left, so the small blind becomes the button and the big blind becomes the small blind.

Procedure 2: Players take actions

After all is set, the dealer deals out two cards each to every player of the game in sequence from the small blind to the button. Then UTG, under the gun, gets to take action. Should the player decide to join the game, he has to at least bet the amount of the bug blind or higher. Then the player to his left gets to take action till everyone is done.

There are several different actions a player gets to take in each of the 4 betting rounds. The actions are: check, bet, call, raise, fold, and all in. If there’s only one player that has not folded the hand after everyone has taken their actions, then the player is the winner of that round and wins the pot. If there is more than one person still holding their hand, then they have to compare their hands at the very end of the round.

  • Check: The Player doesn’t take any actions.
  • Bet: The player bets the amount that has to be equal to the big blind at least.
  • Call: The player pays the same amount as the previous player's bets.
  • Raise: The player increases the bet amount that’s at least two times the big blind’s amount.
  • Fold: The player quits his hand by mucking the two cards he holds to the table.
  • All in : The player bets everything he got on the table.

Procedure 3: flop

The dealer puts out three cards on the board, then the players bet for the second round.

Procedure 4: turn

The dealer puts out the fourth card on the board, then the players bet for the third round.

Procedure 5: river

The dealer puts out the fifth card on the board, then the players bet for the fourth round.

Procedure 6: Compare hands

After all the community cards are dealt and all the players have taken their actions, then it’s time for the players to compare the strength of their hands. The one who has the strongest hand wins the pot.

Conclusion

That’s all it is. It’s not hard to tell why this game is so attractive after reading through all the instructions above. Compared to Baccarat and other poker games, Texas Hold’em is not only about betting and waiting for the result, but we all have to form our thoughts between each betting round and take actions based on the judgments we get from the clues of other people’s actions. So to win the pot, one has to fully understand the rules of Texas Hold’em, know the strength of the hands, and also be able to tell the strength that each player’s hands. This is the first step, if you wish to know more, remember to read through the upcoming articles, where I will share more insights into the game. Thank you and have a nice day.
