Both Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in an odd position right now. So far, both teams have played two games in the season and managed to pocket two points only.

What we will look forward to is if they can capitalize on the momentum that they have got or will succumb to the pressure of one the greatest franchise cricket in the world.

As far as Gujarat Titans are concerned, they seem to be thriving under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. He gels well with every player as well as the coach, Ashish Nehra.

Both senior and junior members of the management seem to have a very positive and relaxing relationship with the new skipper.

It is always a good sign for any team, be it international arena or franchise cricket to see everyone settle well when the baton is passed on to a youngster who has never led a franchise before.

Nehra, in particular, can be seen as very supportive of Gill and co. He was the one who was with Gujarat Titans in their debut season victory in 2022.

Even in the opening game against Mumbai Indians, Nehra was seen on the boundary ropes, guiding every bowler as well as the captain himself which led GT to clinch a victory from jaws of defeat from five-time IPL champions.

Heinrich Klaasen

With two blistering fifties in the IPL so far, Heinrich Klaasen has already announced himself as one of the players every team should look out for. 

He’s the guy your bowlers should do some homework on or he can take them to cleaners. The former South African captain is making the season a dream run for SRH on his own. In the first KKR game, he scored 63 and went on to play a 34-ball 80 not-out against Mumbai Indians.

When it comes to hammering the bowlers he’s unstoppable in the orange jersey, especially in the late overs.

His addition to the SRH squad has given them a huge boost when it comes to their batting lineup, along with Glenn Philips and Aiden Markram who add a wonderful mixture to the unit. 

Rashid Khan

Afghanistan’s spin wizard may not have been up to the mark so far, but his ability to remain mysterious even after playing the amount of cricket he has played will always make a potent threat for every IPL opposition.

Gujarat Titans will look to utilize him the same way they did in their debut season in 2022 which resulted in Hardik Pandya, then GT captain, in lifting the trophy.

Rashid is coming off an injury. He also skipped the entire Pakistan Super League for the same reason as he was recovering from the injury. His return to cricket where we can see him at his prime, may take a little time as getting back into the groove can often be slow.

Travis Head

After being benched in the first game, Travis Head made it big in his return to the IPL.

He smoked a quickfire 62 off 24 deliveries to jolt Mumbai Indians in the very beginning of the game, almost reviving the trauma of Indian fans who saw him batter Indian bowlers at the ICC World Cup final.

The Australian opener does not seem to have any weakness. He’s played a vast amount of cricket here in India in the last 12 months, but he hasn’t exposed anything that can be used against him.

His ability to play all over the park keeps the bowlers in check and his shot selection against spinners isn’t bad either. He does seem more dominant against pacers though.

Head’s combination with Abhishek Sharma can be lethal for Gujarat if they commit the same errors that Mumbai did. The best time to get rid of him is the first 10 balls he faces because once he gets settled, it becomes a gigantic task to send him to the hut.

David Miller

Miller hasn’t really been able to revive his best form just yet. He’s had a decent beginning to the season but we are yet to see his best.

He got 12 in the first, and 21 in the second game. His role isn’t to score big runs or build an inning in the middle order. In any team in the world he plays for, Miller is tasked with the responsibility of hammering the batters in the death overs.

However, a benefit you get from having Miller on your side is the maturity and experience he brings to the team.

The Proteas star has spent a decade playing in the IPL and other franchise cricket so he understands the T20 format better than most.

GT vs SRH Match Prediction

Gujarat will be the host team in the match-up. Their players will be more familiar with Ahmedabad’s conditions than Hyderabad’s players.

However, what they lack is experience in leadership and momentum.

Pat Cummins is the new man in charge for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He’s led them in both games with great maturity.

Moreover, SRH is coming off a historic win against MI. They overwhelmed RCB’s record of the highest IPL total, scoring 277/3 against Pandya’s unit at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium last Wednesday (March 27).

Hyderabad seems to be in a thunderous momentum with players like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Cummins, all in sublime forms.
