2024/09/02

The buzz is in the air as the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11 is probably coming back in the last week of October. The tournament usually lasts for three months because of 12 teams participating in it. We will be discussing the Pro Kabaddi 2025 schedule, broadcasters, match start time, teams participating in this competition, and venues where teams are scheduled to play their home or away matches.

Pro Kabaddi 2025 Schedule, Match Timings & Venues

Expected PKL 11 Start Date and Auction

PKL 11 was first expected to start on July 1, 2025, and similarly, the PKL Auction 2024 was expected to happen in late May or early June. The organizers chose this period because they believe it will attract the most attention. However, this could not happen due to the audience being more involved in the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.

Most of the viewership of this Pro Kabaddi league is in India and therefore, the organizers decided to take the dates to the end of this year. The July to September window was ideal for the league to gain maximum viewership.

One key reason for this timing is to avoid clashing with major cricket events like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the T20 World Cup. However, this could not happen because right after the Indian Premier League conclusion, the ICC T20 World Cup started in the United States and the Caribbean.

Revised Pro Kabaddi 2025 Schedule

Despite the earlier expectations, there has been a change in the schedule. According to the Pro Kabaddi 2025 Schedule, PKL 11 will now begin on October 18, 2025. This new start date comes right after the India-Bangladesh T20I series.

The PKL auction was held on August 15 and 16, 2024 where all the team management participated. Sachin Tanwar was the highlight of the PKL Auction 2024 when the Tamil Thalaivas bought him for INR 2.15 crore. Now, the league is expected to start in late October and will end in January 2025.

The reason behind this shift is to avoid conflicts in broadcasting hours, which could affect viewership. By starting in mid-October, the league can ensure that fans can enjoy both cricket and kabaddi without any scheduling issues.

The Pro Kabaddi season 11 will last for three months, with the final match expected to be held around January 4 or 5, 2026.

Pro Kabaddi League Season 2024-25 Broadcasters

Star Sports is the official television broadcaster for PKL. This channel has played a very key role in the league’s success. They have been with PKL since its inception in 2014, alongside Marshal Sports Pvt Ltd, who helped launch the league. Star Sports wants to make sure there is no overlap with other major sporting events, as PKL has become a significant contributor to their viewership.

Although, Cricket is still the first love of the Indian people and undoubtedly the most popular sport, this Pro Kabaddi League has made its position due to its thrilling matches that captivated the Indian audience. The Indians already had a passionate love for Kabaddi but this new version of Kabaddi has ignited the same old passion and now this league is touching new heights with every passing day.

PKL Match Start Time

The Pro Kabaddi League matches are usually played at night. This is the peak time when this league gets the maximum viewership. As per the Pro Kabaddi 2025 Schedule, If there is a single match on a day, it usually starts at 8 PM Indian Local time.

However, if it is a doubleheader, means two matches in a day, the first match starts as per the schedule at 8 PM and the second match starts time is 9 PM Indian Local Time. All the matches are played on mats in indoor stadiums and arenas. So, rain or any other climatic intervention is not possible and matches start at their regular time.

Past Seasons and Challenges for PKL

Two seasons of PKL were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to travel restrictions and safety concerns, the league had to be rescheduled. PKL 10, for example, was originally planned for July but was moved to December because of scheduling conflicts with the Asian Games and the Asian Kabaddi Championships.

These changes were also a must so that players' and staff’s safety is ensured while still delivering the exciting kabaddi action that fans love.

However, the organizers are now hopeful that PKL can return to its original schedule. The 2024 season is seen as the best chance for this, as the pandemic’s impact is not there anymore, and sports events are returning to their regular slots.

With Pro Kabaddi 2025 scheduled in October 2025, fans can look forward to a season that brings the league back to its traditional timing.

Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 Expectations

The availability of 12 teams for the competition already makes it an exciting season, and PKL-11 promises to be nothing short of brilliant. The league is currently playing slightly outside its actual window but getting the maximum viewership.

However, if it comes back to its original scheduled window, it will be highly appreciated by all the league’s stakeholders. With each passing year, the Popularity of the Pro Kabaddi League seems to grow by leaps and bounds. This is really helping this sport grow not only in India but all around the world.

The Puneri Paltan will be defending their PKL Championship this year and teams that haven’t won any championship have put up a good squad in the auction. So, it will be really interesting to see how the teams perform in the 11th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
