A Quick History of Royal Challengers Bangalore
In September 2007, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) started the Indian Premier League (IPL), a special kind of cricket that began in 2008. They made teams for eight cities in India, and these teams were sold in an auction in Mumbai on February 20, 2008.
Vijay Mallya got the team for Bangalore by bidding a lot of money, $111.6 million, which was the second-highest after Mumbai Indians. In 2019, the brand value of Royal Challengers Bangalore was estimated to be ₹595 crore (US$75 million), according to a Duff & Phelps survey. The IPL Cricket was made to bring a new and exciting time to cricket, and the team deals showed that people believed a lot in the league's future.
Team Name, Logo, Crest, and colors
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), owned by Vijay Mallya, got its name from connecting with the liquor brand Royal Challenge. The Virat Kohli IPL team's logo changed over time, and it now has a noticeable lion emblem.
The jersey colors also changed, starting with red and yellow and later adding gold, sometimes with small differences. In special "Game for Green" matches, they switch red with green. Different companies, like Reebok, Adidas, Zeven, and Wrogn, made their kit, and since 2020, Puma has been doing it.
The IPL top team's anthem changed over the years, and in 2016, they introduced "Play Bold." Their fans always cheer for the team with slogans like “Es Saala Cup Namde” which means “This year the cup is going to be ours”

Rivalries with other Teams of IPL
RCB is one of the most competitive teams in IPL cricket and this team shares some serious rivalries with 3 other IPL teams that's why every cricket fan looks forward to this IPL top team being head to head against its rivals
South Indian Derby:
The Virat Kohli IPL team hailing from Bangalore has a serious rivalry with another south team, Chennai Super Kings. The rivalry is known as the South Indian Derby or Kaveri Derby as the states of these teams have been arguing over an issue of the Kaveri River. Both teams have been a part of thrilling matches over the years.
Rivalry with Kolkata Knight Riders:
Both teams had the honor to play the first-ever IPL match in history and Brendon McCullum from KKR smashed the century in the inaugural match and thrashed the RCB team.
Since then, the rivalry developed between them and players have been seen fighting with each other on multiple occasions who can forget the fight between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir while playing for their respective teams.
Rivalry with Sunrisers Hyderabad:
RCB has shared a bitter rivalry with another top IPL team Hyderabad. In the 2009 IPL cricket season, Deccan Chargers (Hyderabad Team) won its first trophy beating RCB in the final.
Moving fast forward to 2016, David Warner's Hyderabad Team beat RCB in the 2016 IPL final. Besides this, the teams seemed to have off-field controversies, adding spice to their rivalry.
