How To Play Jili Rummy Game

Jili Rummy game is a total of 106 cards, including a 2-deck plus 2 joker poker card games. 2 ~ 5 players can play each game with 13 cards. The Joker card and the selected special card can be used as any card. The luckiest opening is when you are the first player to draw a card, and the first opened card is a wild card; you should choose that card instead of opening a blind card.

But you must know that both Wild Card and Joker card cost extra money. If you lose that game, you should see your hand card and decide how to win that game when you have those bonus cards.

• Even if you have a wild card or a joker card in your hand but your hand card does not look good in the first place, I advise you to drop this round of the game to prevent more loss.
• You will  also need to remember the declaration cards, this will help you to decide what card you should keep and which card you should declare. Let's see an example:
• If the declaration cards include a spare 7,8,9, then you should also declare the spare 6 or 10 if they are single cards in your hand, this will help you boost the chances of getting other groups of cards.

Rummy Rules

The basic rules of Jili Rummy are a standard 13-card game. If you want to know the details of the Rummy rules, you need to make your hand card into valid sequences as soon as possible to win before others make their cards in sequence and win the game.

Each group of your hand card should be in groups of 3 or 4 cards, including:

3 Types of Sequences in Jili Rummy

• Pure Sequence: 3 or 4 consecutive cards of the same suit, like 9♥ 10♥ J♥ (or) 5♠ 6♠ 7♠ 8♠.
• Impure Sequence: 3 or 4 straight cards with at least one joker, like 2♦ 3♦ Q♠ 5♦ (Where Q♠ is a joker or wild card) 10♠ 4♥ Q♠ K♠ (Where 4♥ is a joker or wild card).
• Triples: 3 cards of the same rank but different suits, like A♦A♠A♥.

Rummy First Life

The first life is the first group of cards you need to form, and they should be in sequence order and the same suite, like hearts 2,3,4 / 7,8,9 or spare 3,4,5,6, etc.

Rummy Second Lift 

Second life refers to the second pure sequence or an impure sequence. Basically, it's the 2nd set of the cards in your hand, which should be created after the first life in Rummy Card Game Rules.

Card Ranking in Rummy

• Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King.
• Jack, Queen, and King are valued at 10 points each. Ace can be 1 point or a high card depending on context.

Joker in Rummy

• A joker in rummy can be a printed joker card (two jokers are used in games with two decks) or a randomly selected card at the start of each game.
• The Joker can substitute for any other card to complete an impure sequence.

Declaration Rules

• Players must arrange cards into valid sets and sequences, including at least one pure sequence.
• Once arranged, players can declare by discarding their 14th card.
• Upon validation, the declaring player wins, and their opponent's points are calculated based on the rummy variant.

Rummy Point Calculation

After you understand how to play Rummy and the rules of the game, we will now talk about how to calculate points for each game. The losing base will be as each card's number *1, so if you choose the game of 0.1, the result will be your total loss point times 0.1.

Here is how the lost points are calculated:

• Each card in rummy has a specific point value. Numbered cards carry points equivalent to their face value, such as 5 of Spades = 5 points.
• The cards J (Jack), Q (Queen), K (King), and A (Ace) from any suit are worth 10 points each.
• Joker cards are valued at zero points.
• After a rummy game, the score of the losing player is determined by adding up the points of cards that are not part of any set or sequence.
• If a player does not have a single pure sequence, all points from their cards are added to their score.
• The maximum penalty a player can receive is 80 points. Even if a player's hand totals 85 points, they will only incur an 80-point penalty.
• The winning points will be all lost points added together.
